Low Self-Esteem Behaviors:
- Verbalizes self-disparaging remarks, seeing self as unattractive, worthless, stupid, a loser, a burden, unimportant, and so on.
- Takes blame easily.
- Inability to accept compliments.
- Refuses to take risks associated with new experiences, as child expects failure.
- Avoids social contact with adults and peers.
- Seeks excessively to please or receive attention/praise of adults and/or peers.
- Unable to identify or accept positive traits or talents about self.
- Fears rejection from others, especially peer group.
- Acts out in negative, attention-seeking ways.
- Difficulty saying no to others; fears not being liked by others.
